With UN World Water Day is just over a month away, schools and Rotarians in Europe and the US are gearing up for their walks. This year we have around 2500 students walking for 10 different water and sanitation projects in Asia and Africa. The schools are situated in the following countries: Italy, England, Scotland, Wales, the United States, Hungary, Luxembourg, Malta and Austria! Again this year, we have been able to provide sponsored backpacks – thanks to the generous support of Janus Services, BV, based in the Netherlands.
What is remarkable about the Walking for Water Campaign? Until now, it is not incredible growth each year. With limited resources, we do our best to promote the campaign and to stimulate it’s growth, but so far (2014 is the fourth international campaign) growth remains incremental rather than explosive. New schools and Rotary Clubs become involved each year, mainly inspired by the ‘word-of-mouth’ experience shared by others.
So what is it that I find so amazing? Almost all of the schools and Rotary Clubs that participate in Walking for Water come back each year to do it again! THAT IS COOL! You are too many to name, but thank you for your ongoing commitment!!
Best wishes for safe, fun and successful walks!

Students and teachers of Isituto Comprensivo Sant’Antonino di Susa are looking forward to making their walk again in March 2014!
That is cool: to see children happy to help disadvantaged children learning to save water.
